Events at the new Fort Lupton

Updated June 3, 2010.

This web site is not 'official' and is not provided by the South Platte Valley Historical Society and the information here may be incorrect. For 'official' information, check the South Platte Valley Historical Society web site. If that web site does not help, call or email them (not me). See SPVHS contacts.

Visit the new Fort Lupton

As of May 2010 you can visit the new fort two days each week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9 or 10 AM to perhaps as late as 3 PM as construction is underway. You can see all the Fort and shop at the Trade room. This schedule may change in future.

Your Event

The new fort can be rented for your meeting or occasion, with food catering available. The fort, though not yet entirely complete, has a large meeting hall and kitchen, and is an unusual and interesting place to visit. It is especially suitable for historical or geneology groups, or anyone seeking a unique setting.

Contact the South Platte Valley Historical Society Special Events Coordinator (email specialevent@spvhs.org) for details and availability, or see contacts.

Rendezvous, Encampments, and Dinners

The Tallow River Trappers in conjunction with the South Platte Valley Historical Society holds several rendezvous throughout the year at the rendezvous site west of the Fort (see map). . The largest are Lancaster's and Trapper's Days.

Note: For public visitors to rendezvous, note that many rendezvous ending on Sunday (or whatever is the last day scheduled) generally have few or no special activities on the last day. Some traders may be open, but Sunday or the last day is the day to pack up.

There is public parking for all events on the east side of the rendezvous site, reached by one gate west of "Historic Place" drive. You can walk between the parking, rendezvous, and Fort in 5 minutes, over the footbridge. The Fort may or may not be used at any event.
